World Sleep Society presents a one-hour educational session on Sleep and Menopause on October 29, 2026. This live event is free to all attendees, and the recording will be made available in the Learning Center.

Join the live session to participate in the question-and-answer portion with our expert panel moderated by Dr. Fiona Baker (United States)

The session will include two presentations:

  •  Managing Sleep Disturbance in Menopause: Psychological Aspects from Sara Nowakowski, PhD, CBSM, DBSM (United States)
  • Managing Sleep Disturbance in Menopause: Physiological Aspects from Helena Hachul, MD, PhD (Brazil)

Time for Q&A will follow.

Learning Objectives
  •  Describe the physiological mechanisms that link the menopausal transition to disturbed sleep, including vasomotor symptoms, declining estrogen and progesterone, changes in melatonin secretion, and shifts in circadian timing
  • Recognize psychological and psychosocial contributors, including mood and anxiety symptoms, that compound sleep disturbance during the menopausal transition
  • Evaluate non-pharmacological and pharmacological options for managing sleep complaints in menopausal women, weighing expected benefit against risk
